Mitchell International Airport Flights Resume

Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport had been closed Friday morning due to flooding in the area. Both commercial runways at Mitchell International Airport were covered with water. More than six inches of rain fell in the Milwaukee area on Thursday.

Crews cleared one runway and reopened it to air traffic about 1 p.m., airport spokesman Ryan McAdams said. He said it was too early to say when the other might reopen.

The National Weather Service said southern Wisconsin could face another night of flooding and winds, with some areas expected to receive as much as 5 inches of rain. Storms were expected to start clearing up Saturday night.
