Refudiate Meaning – Ask Sarah Palin the Word Inventor
Sarah Palin invented a new word, it is called refudiate. And what is the definition of “refudiate”? Only Sarah Palin knows. But it looks like for her the meaning of the word is “refute”. It all started when former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin tweeted “Ground Zero Mosque supporters, doesn’t it stab you in the heart as it does our throughout the heartland? Peaceful Muslims, please refudiate.”
After few minutes of posting the tweet (or after people found out that refudiate is not an English word), the tweet was removed and replaced by:
“Refudiate,” “misunderestimate,” “wee-wee’d up.” English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!
Palin tweeted that she’s just following in Shakespeare’s footsteps.
Just for the record, she wasn’t making it up. It has been a word common in my vocabulary for decades. Perhaps it is just a local vocabulary thing. Like Snowmachine here in Alaska hasn’t been accepted in many other states they call it a snowmobile.
I live in Alaska and have for 38 years and repudiate has always meant to rejecte somebodys words with gusto, whereas refudiate has always meant to refuse or take back my own words or plans with gusto.
It may be dumb to people from other places but it fits our vocabulary in Alaska very well.
Sarah is an original. Dumb as hell mind you, but original. Americans love anyone who has the nerve to be more stupid than everyone else. So there. Can anyone “Refudiate” this? No you didn’t!!!!!
