Stromuhr – Anamika Veeramani – Scripps National Spelling Bee 2010 Winner

What is the definition or meaning of Stromuhr? A Stromuhr is a rheometer designed to measure the amount and speed of blood flow through an artery. It was the word Anamika Veeramani spelled right to become the 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion.

Anamika Veeramani, 14-year-old 8th grade from Incarnate Word Academy spelled the word “juvia” first to complete the round, then spelled the word “stromuhr” to become the National Spelling Bee winner.

Anamika’s passions include reading, writing, photography and painting. She takes private lessons in Indian classical dance and golf. Anamika has been studying Indian classical music for eight years, and has played the violin for six years. She is a member of her school’s orchestra, and she also enjoys swimming. Anamika is very interested in science and she has participated in science fairs at which her research projects have earned several awards. She aspires to become a cardiovascular surgeon, an author and a screenwriter. Anamika tied for fifth place in the 2009 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
