The news of Solicitor General Elena Kagan being nominated by President Obama to become the 112th Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, came out yesterday. More of that news can be found here. After the announcement was made, curiosity of Elena Kagan’s personal life soared. Is she married? Or does she have a husband or kids?
Kagan’s Wiki entry does not say anything at all about her personal life.
Kagan was born in New York City, the middle of three children of Gloria Gittelman Kagan and Robert Kagan. After graduating from Hunter College High School in 1977, Kagan earned a A.B. in history from Princeton University, summa cum laude, in 1981. At Princeton, she wrote a senior thesis under historian Sean Wilentz studying the socialist movement in New York City in the early 20th century. Wilentz remarked more recently, “One of the foremost legal minds in the country, she is still the witty, engaging, down-to-earth person I proudly remember from her undergraduate days.” As an undergraduate, Kagan also served as editorial chair of the Daily Princetonian.
She received Princeton’s Daniel M. Sachs Class of 1960 Graduating Scholarship, one of the highest general awards conferred by the university, which enabled her to study at Worcester College, Oxford University. She earned an M.Phil from Oxford in 1983. She received a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1986, where she was Supervisory Editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Based on the wiki page, Elena Kagan seems to have no husband and kids and was never married. Here is an interesting report from CBS written by Ben Domenech, who is also editor of The New Ledger, describing Kagan as potentially the “first openly gay justice.” Is Solicitor General Elena Kagan gay?
The Obama administration charged CBS News with being out of line and Domenech has since issued a public apology to Kagen “if she is offended at all by my repetition of a Harvard rumor in a speculative blog post.”

It turns out that the internet enables anyone to post anything. The post may be absurd but will have an effect on the weak minded. I voted for Obama but now I am wondering if he will help my situation. I still am not working. Thankfully my wife is still working but we may lose that income soon. I am getting bitter about corporate welfare. We have handed out billions to companies and families got nothing. The stimulis had no effect in my town…..none….no one got a job….some people got overtime but we are hurting and our children are hurting. I have a 5 year old son and a 6 year old daughter. I thought Obama would help the working people but things are looking bad. He should focus on people instead of oil spills.
