Indonesia Earthquake May 9, 2010 – Lhokseumawe Sumatra Province

A strong earthquake hit the North Sumatra province of Indonesia Sunday, May 9, 2010. The 7.4 Indonesia earthquake (USGS recorded it as 7.2) knocked out power and damaged some homes. Indonesia and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu issued a tsunami watch for the area, but both canceled their warnings less than 90 minutes later.
