Mangrove monitor lizard, new species found

Scientists discovered new species of Komodo dragon-like lizard or mangrove monitor lizard in Indonesia. The scientists used DNA analysis and morphological characteristics to determine the new species “Varanus lirungensis.” Varanus lirungensis inhabits the Talaud Islands, an archipelago between the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and Mindanao in the Philippines.
