Statue of Liberty Crown Tickets go on sale
It is summer. It is time for the Statue cruises in New York! The Statue of Liberty Crown Tickets goes on sale today. The crown is opened again for tourists after so many years of being closed.
The crown is set to open July 4 after being closed since shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The National Park Service says would-be visitors can seek reservations through the Web site statuecruises.com or by calling 877-523-9849 from 10 a.m. EDT. It says reservations will be first come, first served.
Crown tickets will cost $3 above the regular Liberty and Ellis islands admission charge, which is $12 for adults. Each customer can reserve up to four tickets and make only one reservation every six months.
For safety reasons, only 30 people per hour will be allowed up the narrow steps leading to the crown.
The statue’s base, pedestal and outdoor observation deck reopened in 2004.
