Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Friday night in Game 7 and won the Stanley Cup 2009. Pittsburgh won the Cup in 1991 and 1992, captained by owner Mario Lemieux.
Evgeni Malkin, who led the playoffs with 36 points, earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the postseason MVP.
